Empowering businesses to realise their full potential

Entrepreneurial businesses are the backbone of local communities and the global economy by creating growth and employment opportunities. However, many successful small and medium-sized companies eventually require a long-term owner to secure their competitiveness and to realise their full potential. With a long-term ownership horizon, strong financial and strategic capabilities, and the scale of a large business group, Storskogen seeks to fill this gap as a next-generation owner.

We try to be sensitive to each business seller’s situation and to each company's unique circumstances, needs and potential.

What we’re looking for

When evaluating companies, there are aspects we like and others we dislike, and we aim to make acquisitions in line with these preferences. In addition, our investments take into account certain macro trends that we believe have strong growth potential and serve as key drivers for a significant part of the existing business group:

  • Health and wellbeing
  • Automation
  • Energy and sustainability
  • Digitalisation
  • Infrastructure

Some things we like

  • Strong position within niche market, with clear competitive advantages
  • Good conditions for sustainable profit growth
  • Ability to protect and maintain healthy margins, even in changing market conditions
  • Strong cash flows, supporting reinvestment and financial flexibility
  • Driven by the macro trends prioritised by Storskogen
  • Ideal target size: companies generating SEK 20–50 million in EBITA

Some things we dislike

  • Political risk, such as exposure to changing regulations or unstable environments
  • Turnaround situations where the business requires major changes to succeed
  • Technological uncertainty, with unclear outcomes or risk of offering becoming outdated
  • Low or expensive scalability, making it hard to grow efficiently or affordably
  • End-market uncertainty, where customer demand or industry direction is unclear

Becoming part of Storskogen

When small and medium-sized companies reach a point where new ownership is needed to secure future competitiveness, sellers often seek buyers who share their vision for long-term success, including business growth and employee support. This aligns closely with Storskogen’s long-term approach, rooted in an entrepreneurial spirit from its founders.

Our goal is always to have a flexible approach and find a solution that benefits both the seller and the company. Sometimes Storskogen acquires 100 percent of a company, but often the sellers or key individuals retain a minority stake. Some choose to step away from their operational role, while others continue as before or take on new responsibilities, such as business development.

Being a part of Storskogen

Storskogen applies a decentralised but active ownership model, where the management teams in the companies retain operational decision-making power and responsibility for results but receive support from Storskogen through board-level work. Storskogen facilitates the development and growth of the companies through strategic and operational support in issues such as investment decisions, succession planning, sustainability initiatives and business strategy. In addition, Storskogen’s extensive network of businesses enables collaboration, synergies, network effects and knowledge sharing.
